*****ulent Financial Institution

Old Mutual doesn’t even deserve a single star. This institution is *****ulent and one of the biggest ****mers in the financial insurance world. The staff I’ve dealt with are among the most *********** I’ve ever encountered. Old Mutual is misleading its contributors. After leaving my previous employer in May, I was told I could only submit my claim once their online claims system was available. I submitted my claim on September 1st, and now 2 months and 2 weeks, over 70 days later, my claim still hasn’t been processed. Instead, I receive automated responses from staff—often after hours—saying, “We are working on your claim.” This is unacceptable. The way Old Mutual handles claims is deceptive, and this issue must be exposed.

Old Mutual responded to my Hello Peter review within five minutes, claiming they had addressed my complaint privately—yet this isn’t true. Old Mutual, where is my money, and why has it taken over two months and two weeks to disinvest my funds? I’ve had to deal with eight different consultants, none of whom seem to know what they’re doing. I can name each of them to show who should not be handling my account. I still haven’t received a proper response from Old Mutual.

This ongoing struggle with Old Mutual feels like anything but good customer service. Just two days ago, I received a call from Phumzile Maweni , an Old Mutual representative, claiming my fund withdrawal request was a priority, backed up by an official email. But the relief was short-lived. The next day, Phumzile called again, asking me to resubmit my claim—for the third time in just a few months. Despite his assurances, I refused. Why? The system has technical glitches, and he, trained on the process, could likely resolve them faster on my behalf.

However, as usual, it turned out to be a case of false hope. After our call, Phumzile Maweni sent another email, this time claiming that my request had been escalated to senior management. Apparently, the funds are now in the process of "disinvestment," which could take 3-5 more working days—already nearing the end of the week. This delay stretches my timeline further, pushing my claim into mid-November, not even accounting for the additional approval steps required by Old Mutual for the transfer to reach my account.

Why is Old Mutual making this so difficult? This is beyond mismanagement. Imagine rural residents who lack access to Wi-Fi, data, or airtime to endure such a grueling process. Old Mutual is intentionally withholding contributor funds, and for what purpose?

Old Mutual you owe your clients, including those without the means to chase these bureaucratic delays, a transparent and accountable service.

I want my money!!!!!
