Two weeks to action an instruction
More than 2 weeks ago I sent an instruction that my tax free investment account be transferred out within the current financial year. Numerous follow up calls to the useless call centre could only inform me that they did receive the instruction and are busy processing it. No further information could be gotten from the clueless persons.
TODAY only have I received an update from Kanyisa Ncemane that my transfer would only happen in the next financial year, as it falls within the restricted period in terms of the regulations, even though I had sent the instruction TWO WEEKS BEFORE THIS RESTRICTED PERIOD COMES INTO EFFECT!
Regulations in terms of section 12T(8) of the Income Tax Act, 1962 (Act No. 58 of 1962), Part IV Clause 9 (5) states that this transfer should happen within two weeks.
Old Mutual is in breach of these regulations, and as such I am now lodging official complaints against Kanyisa Ncemane and Old Mutual at the Financial Sector Conduct Authority, as well as the Ombudsman for Financial Services Providers.
