Think and research very well before investing!

Started a RA in 1984. It matured in 2015. My investment value is now R16 000 less than on maturity. After consistently poor growth from Feb 2018 it lost R50 000. There are no options available to switch funds - as are available with other organisations. Since August they've managed an average ot R1 000 growth per month on capital of R750 000. How's that for fund manager competence? I'd do anything to get out of this investment, but requests for info on how to go about it are unresponsive. Disgusting - how do you live in retirement on this performance?
