*******
In 2012 early I took an investment (educational plan) with Old Mutual which will mature in 2029. When I started I was paying about R210 and to date is about R286. In 2018 December I took two in one investments (educational plans) which will mature in 2035 and I started paying R300 for each and to date I pay R350 for each. So today I phoned the head office to find out when these investments mature how much will I get as I don't have a contract and they were taken over the phone so no contracts were sent to me. To my surprise the lady that answered my call told me that Old Mutual does not guarantee any investment matured amount and they don't even guarantee the capital of the capital, that sounded very funny to me. And she told me that on the one that I took in 2012 I have got about R18000 and I have got about R1500 from each of two in one that I took in 2018. So that information actually made me doubt Old Mutual, such a big, popular and well known financial institution.
I also asked the lady how much will I get if I cancel these investments as it would appear that it is not safe to keep them if even the capital is not guaranteed. She said for the one that I took in 2012 I will get about R18000 and for the two in one I will get about R3900. She even sent me the forms so that I can cancel them if I want to do so. The amounts she told me that I will get if cancel are actually confirmed on the canselation forms
If I culculate what I have already paid as of today for these investments, I get something higher than what Old Mutual will give me for each of these investments.
I decided to cancel these investments but I need my capital that I have already paid from the start of each investment as it is or I need an explanation as to where is my money that I have already paid. Old Mutual is a big and well known financial institution so why it looks like they are robbing people's money that they have work very hard for it.
I need a very quick response for my concern.
Regards
