Reloaded canceled debit order

Be careful. I recently took out a max investment policy with old mutual to the value of R250. My husband and I shortly after started a dispute with liberty life with regards to a endowment policy that does the same thing. You pay for an investment to pay out and then they refuse to pay because it has in essence become a life cover. Due to this I realized I was in serious danger of the same happening to me. I contacted old mutual and canceled the policy via email. I was very politely told that I needed to sign a written instruction to cancel. How redundant is that? I can activate telephonically, but cannot end everything telephonically?? Irrespective, I decided to cancel the debit order. Lo and behold to my surprise, the money was deducted this morning from my account. I couldn't believe that a company would still pursue a debit order after it had been canceled by the customer. I will never ever have any dealings with old mutual. Just another company that is more interested in money than the customer!
