Policy cancellation

I went to the Pinetown branch to cancel both my policies on the 18th of July. Prior to being attended to,I was requested to produce my proof of address,ID and bank statement. It appeared as if the service consultant had scanned all these documents, but subsequently the bank statement wasn't,because I received an SMS from old Mutual requesting the bank statement. I ignored the SMS because I had seen the bank statement being taken from me and scanned in front of my eyes. Subsequently the debit orders came through and my R700 gone and not budgeted for. I then had to email the statement,no one acknowledged receipt until I called in again on the 31st, and the policies are still active and I am being told about escalations etc. What really bothers me is that in my effort to improve my cash flow I have ended up having to adjust when I had made the necessary steps of cancelling the policies. It is poor service and I am guessing its because I am opting to leave the service provider. One thing for certain though is that I will not tolerate another debit order and I will instruct the bank to not accept debit orders anymore. I don't mind at all if this ends up with the law.
