PLEASE RECONSIDER using Old Mutual as Executor of your Estate
POOR SERVICE: Father-in-law passed away in November 2016. My mother-in-law was informed by the Old Mutual broker that she should not worry about anything, and that they (Old Mutual) will take care of all necessary documentation pertaining to medical aid, long and short term insurance, policies, vehicle registration or any monthly household coverage usually done by her late husband. However, more than a year later she is still struggling to re-instate her medical aid and have been without a medical aid for more than a year, due to administrative negligence either from Discovery or Old Mutual, with both parties distancing themselves from taking responsibility. The executor (Old Mutual broker) is claiming they were not made aware of non-compliance pertaining to the continuation forms they sent, and Discovery is claiming they did follow up properly (Old Mutual) before cancelling the medical aid. Multiple complaints sent to Discovery and Old Mutual complaint platforms, with only receiving generic replies and no additional follow up on the issue or offering any solutions. For a 67 year old widow to be without medical aid due to 3rd parties (Discovery and/or Old Mutual-Executor) not following up as deemed "reasonable" correspondence is to say the least sad and unacceptable.
