Only partial disinvestment?

Hi Guys, I'm having some issues with trying to disinvest funds from Old Mutual. This past month I tried to sell off investments I had and was told by my broker's PA that I just had to sign a few forms and it would be taken care of. So I sold off a portion, then decided a day later to sell out all my investments (except for my retirement fund) as I needed the funds for personal use. I was told no problem, just sign the same forms. So half of my investments were sold off, but half weren't. I then queried this and the PA told me that I could only disinvest 3 shares or something to that effect and would now have to wait (she couldn't tell me how long, maybe years???!!!). Please can someone inform me on how this works, and why I can't sell the remainder of my funds. I'm not getting too much out of my broker or his PA...
