Old Mutual Policy Holder

Hi South Africans,

I would like to inform people that I took out an Injury policy due to the nature of my work. Round about 8 years ago I was involved in an Injury were as I broke my arm (compound fracture), I was operated on were they put in two plates in my forearm I did loose 37% of movement due to the injury and nerve damage, which I was told by my Surgeon that my arm will never be 100% due to the break. (all proof was sent to old mutual), as I had taken out a policy for injury. Long and behold everything was forwarded to old mutual for a claim towards my Injury policy and old mutual rep**** they will not pay out as I have no lost my limb and still have a little movement on my arm. I took out the policy due to the nature of my work for Injury. When I took the policy out I was told any form of injury the policy will pay out, now the goal posts have been moved and the policy I did take out is for complete loss of arm or movement. I would like to inform fellow south African's be very careful in signing a policy with old mutual if you don't have a lawyer present, as they are head fast in not understanding anything that I have informed them of about the policy when I took it out. I have tried to close this policy off which I am still paying towards, to no prevail I have tried to change this policy or get my money out, The response from old mutual is that the policy can be changed but the money already invested will be lost. Please if you have a policy with old mutual get your lawyer to read it.
