Old Mutual Phuthaditjhaba submitted my information to debt review without my permission and ruined my life

On the second of January 2019, all I ever wanted to apply for from Old Mutual Phuthaditjhaba in QwaQwa was for a personal loan for debt consolidation. However instead of assisting me with my application or simply rejecting the application if I didn't qualify, Old Mutual Phuthaditjhaba submitted my information to a debt review agent working for a company called Octogen. That Octogen agent by the name of Masentle Charlotte happened to have been having a desk in the offices of Old Mutual Phuthaditjhaba branch and wearing Old Mutual uniform at the time I interacted with her which fooled me into thinking I was being assisted by Old Mutual. To make matters worse, the assistant manager of this Old Mutual branch in Phuthaditjhaba by the name of Bethuwel even boasted to me that each and every information of their clients in their data base is made available to this debt review company by the name of Octogen. This is very scary and its no suprise that my life is in ruins now. There is no confidentiality regarding clients information if this is Old Mutual practice.

Old Mutual having submitted my information to Masentle of Octogen, I got a call from Masentle regarding my loan and she misled me into thinking she was to assist me with a loan. I also thought I was dealing with an Old Mutual agent. However she was in fact processing a debt review application without my permission. After that call, I went to this Old Mutual branch to sign documents. When I got there I was received at the reception by old mutualand referred to Masentle. Old Mutual didn't explain anything to me about what was going to happen. Again Masentle was wearing Old Mutual uniform. I was made to sign some contract documents which I signed believing that I was dealing with an Old Mutual agent. That began my problems.

When I went to Absa to retrieve my money, I was told that I could not access my cheaque account as I had app**** for debt review.

I went to the Phuthaditjhaba branch of Old Mutual to get assistance. The assistant manager by the name of Bethuwel still referred me to Masentle who arrogantly told me that I knew I was signing debt review application and that there was nothing I could do to reverse it. She said I could go and report where ever. I wanted. When I confronted the manager of this Phuthaditjhaba Branch why Masentle was wearing Old Mutual uniform, she told me that they could not stop Masentle from wearing a uniform which was similar to theirs.

What pains me is how Old Mutual engages in such ********* practices as to share client information with other companies. To make matters worse, how a brand like Old Mutual allows non employees to wear its regalia, use their primises for business that has nothing to do with Old Mutual etc. All I wanted was to be assisted by Old Mutual and not to deal with a debt review service.

I want to warn other clients or prospective clients of Old Mutual to be careful of this **** by this company. It looks like they have an agreement with ************ businesses to take advantage of unsuspecting people like me. I wonder how much Old Mutual gets in return.
