Old Mutual Green Light Income Protector

Today is 20/04/2018 I am a Hairdressor, When I finally bought my own bussines, Out of fear of anything happening to me and or my bussines should I be sick or injured I went to Old Mutual Green light Income Protector Cover. What a disaster, had I known then what I know now I would never advise anybody to take out this policy.

04/08/2017 I started physio, due to the terrible pain in my hip, after three treatments I was advised to see my doctor...He sent me for X-Rays .

23/08/2017 I was refered to a Neuro/Orthopedic Surgeons, suffering with pain down my right leg. Was sent for MRI and more X-Rays.

09/09/2017 I was in hospital for a spinal block procedure, after the procedure I had complications and was booked of work for 4 weeks. I put in a claim with my Green light Income Protector and was shocked after they offered to pay me for just one day. I still havn't recieved any money and I am trying to dispute this assessment with no help from the call centre

17/11/2017 I visited an orthepedic surgeon, showed him the same MRI & X-Ray that I had taken prior to my spinal block procedure in September. His first words were "You must be in a lot of pain" and that I need a total right hip replacement immediately....well...I was shocked...and he could'nt understand how the neuro surgeon had not seen the problem with my hip. He stated that the procedure done on my back should have required that I stay in hospital for at least 48 hours of which my GP agreed. As I am a Hairdresser and Salon Owner, obviously I could not do the procedure on my hip, as my busiest time is December.....I had lost income over the 4 weeks that I was booked off for in September.....So had to dose myself with pain meds and morphine to get through this period.

Ironically, The cause of my pain was my hip all this time it was totally disintegrated it was bone on bone no cartlidge and I had a cyst in the bone, The Neuro Surgeon who did the spinal block procedure, never saw anything wrong with my hip. Thus I believe Old mutual Income Protector Plan should have compensated me for the period I was laid up for, trying to manage my pain.

17/01/2018 I had my total right hip replacement.....I was booked off for recovery for 8 weeks.... I have put a claim in with Old Mutual income Protector. Up until today I wait,I phone, I e-mail and I get more frustrated as my finances have run dry... I have spoken to every person at the Old Mutual Call Centre......there answers always the same......Have even tried to stick with one person but to no avail. As I ask if they have all the documents they require from me....they all say yes it will take 10 working days...after 10 working days I phone them to be told ......... Theres a form or paper missing. Wait another10 working days for the assessors. they understand the urgency and will expetite your claim. (i'm still waiting) You can't even speak to a supervisor, or any other authority as they state that they dont have the numbers for them.

I am now tired and in financial distressed. Having had faith and trust in Old Mutual for all these years that they would look after me and my business only to find out that they actually couldn"t care less.
