Old Mutual being unhelpful with unnecessary rules and no interest in customer service.

I've asked Old Mutual to pay out a policy, but they insist I have to have a bank account in my own name. My salary goes into my husband's account, and I have full authority to transact on it, and this has never been a problem with SARS. So why should Old Mutual have a problem with a third party account?

All this is going to do is to cost me money, because obviously if I now have to open an account specially for this transaction the bank is going to be quick to charge me all sorts of fees, which naturally Old Mutual won't reimburse. It's basically a rip-off.

So apparently it's okay to pay into an account where I have authority to transact (funny that it takes a post to HelloPeter to establish that where previously it was a blanket 'no third party accounts'). But once all of that has been produced, suddenly now a marriage certificate is required. Why? If the issue was the authority to transact, where does this come from suddenly? And of course when I ask I just get stonewalled.

Just another ploy to be able to sit on my payout a bit longer, as far as I can see. What 'requirements' are going to materialise next? As I said, basically a rip-off. Sorry I ever went near OM - fortunately I can ensure that my children going into adulthood now are warned off, plus anyone else who asks me.
