Old Mutual at it again
Hi,
I would like to lodge a formal complaint regarding the processing of my debit order.
My debit order is scheduled to run on the 20th of each month. However, because the 20th falls on a non-banking day, the debit order has been processed on the 16th, which is several days earlier than the scheduled date.
I find this completely unacceptable. The scheduled debit order date is the 20th, and moving the deduction forward by four days has had a significant impact on me financially.
The money that was left in my account to carry me through until payday has now been deducted, leaving me without funds to cover my basic needs until I am paid.
I understand that debit orders may be subject to processing rules when a scheduled date falls on a non-banking day. However, processing a debit order four days earlier than the agreed date, rather than on the next available banking day, is extremely concerning.
I request that this matter be investigated urgently and that you explain:
1. Why the debit order was processed on the 16th instead of the 20th or the next available banking day. 2. What authority or mandate permits the debit order to be processed this far in advance. 3. What can be done to prevent this from happening again.
Given the immediate financial hardship this has caused, I would also appreciate urgent consideration for the money taken to be refunded/reversed, if possible.
I expect this complaint to be treated seriously and would appreciate a prompt response.
Kind regards
