Old Mutual: A literacy problem?

The following was sent to independent ombudsman: Dear Sir/ Madam

I was divorced in 2014 and provided Old Mutual (David Rispel - Stellenbosch Branch) with the following documentation:

1. Divorce order 2. New ID (I changed my surname back to Forbes- Married surname was Meyer). Old Mutual was kind enough to do so, as can be seen from the attached documentation.

To my knowledge all changes were done, and Old Mutual was informed since I have multiple products with old mutual. I was told that I can keep all my funeral policies (including my ex husband and both his parents) - and pay them as I've been doing for years.

My ex-husband died on the 18th of July 2018. My claim for the funeral policy has been denied because he is no longer my spouse.

Old Mutual had ample opportunity to inform me with regards to above mentioned. I declared my divorce in 2013.

I feel this is unfair practice.
