Misrepresentation, Misleading Half Truths, Claim form that is also misleading
The questioned put to the agent when taking out a policy is why do I need severe comprehensive illness cover when I already have disability cover? She tells me the disability cover covers specific illnesses that prevent you from being able to work but a severe illness policy is more comprehensive and covers a whole lot of illnesses upon diagnosis that may not may not lead to one being disabled. The agent reassures you, that you going to need it. Throwing in the word comprehensive as a huge selling point only to discover upon claiming that your policy wasn't really comprehensive but exclusive, specific. Comprehensive means full, complete, thorough, inclusive, all embracing, extensive but sadly in my case it excludes angioplasty. She also told me that I can download the illnesses and a copy of the claim form from Old Mutual's Website, which gives a full list of illnesses that are covered under the severe illness cover. Old Mutual's claim form is also very misleading as it includes Angioplasty which gives you hope that the severe illness policy covers you have signed for provides you cover, only to put in the claim and discover that you are not covered. An Agent’s use of false or misleading facts is an affirmative action made by the Agent to convince you to invest in what the Agent is selling. I was misled into believing that I'll be covered at a time when I most need the cover only to discover she's no longer an agent now I do not have cover and she is guilty of telling me Half truths, misleading and misrepresentation. No agent, broker gives you a copy of your contract before signing up but it's done in good faith, believing your broker and the information they provide you at the time of signing.
