Misleading policy
Good morning legals. In 2008 my father resigned from his job after 33yrs and put the majority of his lump sum into old mutual max investment which he was told it would for 15yrs. It's now been 15yrs, they have changed his policy from max investment to max income for life meaning he can't access any of the lump sum. When we mentioned that he knows nothing about the change we were told they would withdraw the money and he could put it into a new annuity or keep it this was September, November he was told SARS is processing the funds but on December 1st he was told they can't withdraw funds from the income for life. My father is now 72yrs old and has been told he's family will have no money when he passes. Had that been communicated with him 15yrs ago he wouldn't have put all his money at old mutual. They misled him back then just for a commission. This is ********* business practice and shouldn't happen at a company as big as old mutual. Taking advantage of the elderly should be above old mutual.
