Max Investment not so good

In August 2008 I took out a Max Investment policy from Old Mutual. Over the years I have paid R120,500 into the investment. Expecting a much bigger return. When looking at my Investment today, i have a total capital of +- R127,000. Giving me growth of R6,500.00 in 6 years and 10 months. I did howerer over the years take out money from the investment from time to time. But cannot be more than R20,000.00 in total. With compound interest that amount should have made up that in a small amount of time. In the last year Or more I did not take out a cent and the only growth was my payment each month in the last year. I did take out an investment with PSG a year back and in 1 year I got a 20% return. Old Mutual dont come close to that. Nevertheless, I expect a financial company to act on my behalf, so why Old Mutual never notified me or acted on my behalf or gave me other, better options, will be the reason why I take my money away from them and invest elsewhere....
