Lapsed policy still debiting my account

I had a funeral policy with old mutual. But I haven't made any payment towards it cause I had lost my job. I thought the policy would lapse 9 months later old mutual is still trying to debit my account. When I email them they tell me the policy lapsed January 2022. March 31st 2022 they tried debiting. It seems they don't want to cancel it cause I've also been sending requests to cancel it but they don't reply.
