Is Old Mutual a responsible employer?

Good day,

This afternoon I encountered an employee of yours who explained to me that they were a Financial Advisor from Old Mutual and wanted to have a look at my profile, if there was anything they could help me with etc.

I explained to them that I already have an array of products. What concerned me is that I proceeded to enquire about how their operations have changed since the restrictions around the outbreak of the virus, and they said that they had not been giving any instructions around social distancing, it was simply business as usual. How?!

It felt almost irresponsible that Old Mutual would rather risk going directly against how to approach the outbreak and risk us as clients and more so, their employees?! Is Old Mutual an employer that is more concerned with profits vs the health of its employees?

If that is the case, I do not think I, my family, and friends who all have policies with Old Mutual can believe in and continue to support corporates that do not care about the well-being of their staff. My mind is still completely blown hearing such a young person telling me that they had no choice, they have to maintain their targets for the week.

I have taken this person’s contact number in the hope of following up with them and finding out if anything has changed as this is causing me grave concern as a citizen. I trust that something will be done as soon as possible.
