HOW CAN DEATH CLAIM VALUE ON A POLICY JUST DISAPPEAR

In 2000 my late dad took out two policies. One was an annuity which paid his income monthly and one was called "Kapitaal bewarings lewens polis" with my mother as the beneficiary on it. The last mentioned policy was with a death value amount of R1,101,188.71 to be paid out to my mother when my dad pass on.

He passed away on the 10th of March. We lodged a claim with OM on 24 March and we were told it will take between 10-15 working days to pay out. This did not happen, however it is not our biggest concern.

Our biggest concern though is that OM is telling us that there is only an amount of R53,970 left to pay out to my mom. How on earth can it be??? What about the death claim value??? We are not getting answers and every time we phone the call centre, we are told the claim will be prioritized, it is still with admin.

We want to know what happened to the death claim value on the policy and no one can give us answers. Please OM, we are still mourning and now we must struggle to get answers and my mom is a wreck as there are outstanding debts that this amount had to cover.....
