Horrible policy claim

<p>I took out a life policy with Old Mutual after my wife asked me too take out one for her mother in 2015. I took out another tipe of policy on the same day as it was part of my future financial planning. My mother in law passed away in the middle of August 2016. I phoned old mutual to notify them of what happend and what is needed for the process of claiming the life policy . We live in the Western Cape. The funeral was in Pretoria. We got all the documentation required there in Pretoria and handed it in at Vredenburg's Old Mutual.</p> <p>It's almost the end of September now more then a month and a half later and no one even bothered to phone me or leave a sms or email telling me anything or giving me any feed back as whats going on with the claim i'm the policy holder not my wife (My mother in law was my mother and I loved her very much). When my wife phoned to find out what's happening after I asked her too call the old mutual the representative(She is not to be blamed always friendly professional ) tells her it doesn't look good for the claim to be paid out, because they found out she had cancer and the hospitals keeps sending them from one to the other passing the responibility(but she passed away of natural causes in her sleep). My mother in law lived on state pension and didn't have a medical aid, when my mother in law started getting sick this year (2016) and Kalafong Hospital treated her badly like they do alot with the elderly we thought she had lung infection then TB. Then we decided to get her medical aid because we wanted her to get better. We only found out that she had cancer when they operated on her at the new Hospital this year just before she died.</p> <p>Old Mutual did sent a nurse to draw blood and do tests before they accepted the policy in 2015 and there was no signs of cancer or illness as we thought she was in good health for her age and I paid the policy in full every month. I even have other policies with Old Mutual. The passing of our mother was hard on us as a family. If it's this hard to claim a policy how hard will it be to claim my other policies? This whole experience leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Must I cancel my other Old Mutual policies or must I go to my lawyer for this policy to be processed properly.</p> <p>I feel disappointed for picking Old Mutualto handle my policies and being treated this way(no heart)(or real compassion) after the tragedy of my mother death.</p>
