Have Old Mutual ****** my money?

I have been a life long client of Old Mutual as an investor and even as a small share-holder.

For many years I had a life policy with Old Mutual. Every month, year after year they deducted the premium from my bank account - amounting to many hundreds of thousands of Rand.

I recently decided, that as I have recently retired and the monthly premiums were difficult to meet, that I would cancel the policy. I advised my broker on the last day of the month, indicating that I wished to end the payments and the policy with immediate effect.

The next day, the first day of the new month the agent sent me a "standard document" dated the first of the new month, to be signed and returned by me which I duly did.

Old Mutual deducted the next premium anyway "as it was scheduled on their system". I referred this to the broker who took it up with Old Mutual.

I eventually received a copy of Old Mutual's correspondence with the broker indicating that they would not refund the amount in question, but that I as the client should claim the amount back via my bank and pay the costs therefore (indicating to me Old Mutual's agreement that I was entitled to claim the funds)

I subsequently app**** via the bank who were unable to retrieve the funds as they had already been transferred to Old Mutual.

I have endeavoured to communicate with the parties concerned at Old Mutual - they all have titles that suggest that they deal with CUSTOMER SERVICE but it seems that not one of them is empowered to make an independent decision and hence nothing happens. It seems that the actuaries are the people making the decisons and they don't talk to customers!

I called again today 12.09.2016 (this has been going on since 31 May 2016) and I was told by the Team Leader in the call centre that he would escalate the matter but I should not expect to be paid.

Is seems to me that Old Mutual have high-jacked my money. I wonder if I will be paid interest on it, if they ever repay me?

Perhaps someone who has been successful at getting premiums re-paid by Old Mutual can tell me what to do.
