***** at Old mutual
Message from SAPS. Case registered on 2020-05-17 at EERSTERUST ref nr CAS 117/5/2020. Station contact detail: ***.
opened I ***** refund request at Old mutual ***
Policy number 6966 8P06 *** in January 2020
I paid the account for 5 month's 2 Month's debit orders failed consecutively 07/2018 & 08/2018 (Not enough funds in bank account) - I paid the policy up to date via cash deposit 07/09/2018 two instalments
After this the next month September 2018 no debit order was attempted from my account. - My response to this: I again paid the premium via cash deposit R350 02/10/2018 to avoid termination of my policy.
-Furthermore, went to my local branch in (Silverton) & ask for a print out to confirm that the policy is up to date and debit order is intact.
Old mutual gave me the print out that clearly states: Reinstatement amount R0.00 Arrears amount R0.00 According to this document Appendix “1” that I have all was accordingly with my investment and from my side there was not anything further that I could have done to ensure the debit order would be deducted the following month accept wait.
Furthermore, the document Appendix “1” additionally states that: I had 1 premium holiday app****.
Grace period: 16/09/2018 Paid to date: 01/08/2018
Premium start date. 01/03/2018
Then from Old mutual’s side they did not deduct a debit order for September, October, November and December 2018 and I specifically asked them if this was going to occur. Because of the two months that I did not have enough funds in my bank account and had to pay manually for those two months R700 and then paid manually cash deposit of R350 after that. • After I specifically asked the receptionist at Silverton branch if all is in order and asked for a printout as confirmation.
- I have the print out that the receptionist printed to confirmed all was in order and she assured me I do not have to be worried
September, October, November... I had enough money in my bank account for the premium to deduct. I asked Old mutual’s reception to print proof that the debit order was not affected. September, I had above R350 and money could have been deducted October, above R350 and money could have been deducted November, above R350 and money could have been deducted December, above R350 and money could have been deducted
I supp**** Old mutual with bank statements as they requested from me to proof it clearly was not my mistake the debit order was not being deducted. & the branch enquiry I made to proof that I tried to prevent the debit order from failing again.
Old mutual stopped the debit order from their side since September and I cannot be held responsible to pay for this mistake I tried to avoid in the first place.
• I have full paid up to date for the period at that point in time and tried to make sure the debit orders were going to continue • As I had taken the print out Appendix ‘’A’’ as an additional safety measure to confirm this in their branch, and I kept the print out as a proof as a reference.
• Additionally I have 1 premium holiday (grace period) that is mentioned on this document Appendix “A”.
January 2019 the debit order automatically started working again (To a new policy number 6966 8P08167 57 86)
This I am unaware of that I now had 2x policy’s – And Policy “A” is not the one being debited for. At this stage I was brought under the impression my policy is being debited according how I have originally opened the policy and the debit orders where succeeding Meanwhile the money was being debited for policy “B” The one I did not know existed.
• Policy number “A”: 6966 8P06 *** Debit order closed or stopped without giving me any notice Where for I have signed contract & have a written agreement.
Policy number “B”: 6966 8P08167 57 86 **********ly opened with me not knowing or having any knowledge of until later when I asked for a proof of residence end of December 2019 No contract or agreement for this bogus contract I became aware of this when I went to obtain a proof of residence in December from Old mutual Mamelodi branch Denlyn shopping complex. I first asked one from my local bank Fnb and they refused because I only had my ID with me that day of December and the bank insisted, I must have my bank card also to obtain the proof of residence Mamelodi Denlyn shopping complex.
At first, I thought that is was money accumulated and that was the reason for the two account numbers. That I later ruled out that it couldn’t be and suspected it was a ***** scheme that is being run from Old mutual's consultants or someone outside the group
Besides the second account opened to mislead me, holder of the policy that the account is being debit as normal for my policy opened.
• The con artist managed to changed my contact details: To make me sure I was uncontactable & would not notice the changes. & these changes raised concern and confirmed my suspicions of ***** being attempted on my Policy. The Primary phone number on the system was manipulated / changes From *** To ***
2. Alternative contact number also manipulated / changed
From being 082 578 **** To 082 573 ****
3. Address From 132 Retreat ave Changed To address now being: 132 Pretoria Street
4. Beneficiary for my Policy a number I do not have an idea whose number they inserted on the system as the Primary beneficiary ***. I immediately called this number to find out who's this was and an unknown Male answered.
I asked for a printout of this document to keep as a proof that Old mutual was trying to de***** me of my investment and kept thus.
When I reported this incident to Old mutual, the company later responded confirmation informing me the below statement:
Old Mutual: Dear MNR CLINTON SCHOLTZ Old Mutual Forensics department completed your alleged ***** request on policy 69668P***.A ***** has been proven and premium refunds were completed on 20/04/2020 and this case will now be closed. . Tel ***/Email ***. Ref CEB***, Pls don't reply. Where then I asked the company to open a Saps case and supply me with the case number this Old mutual still has not given me.
Note Old mutual refunded
• R5021.57 Into my bank account. I do not know how the company came to this figure.
• **********ly deducted R5250 out of my bank account over a period of 15x Months. • From 13/02/2019 up to 16/04/2020 R350 per premium • They are still de*****ing me of R228.43 because this is not all my money back debited for Policy “B”: 69668P ***
The original policy I opened & have signed a agreement for that they do not mention or inform me of what going to happen to refund my funds.
Policy “A”: 6966 8P 06 ***
• I paid Old mutual 5x premiums via debit order
• Manually paid 3x premiums via cash deposit & have kept payment confirmations
• In total 8x premiums of R350 each was paid to Old mutual group for Policy referred to as policy “A” totalling 8x payments of R350 each = R2800 is owed to me for policy “A"
• After downloading Old mutual app 16 May 2020 and viewed online my details the- app shows only R1787.31 outstanding and this is wrong because I paid more than this and I have been disputing this amount with the group from the moment I started the dispute with this company.
• The group cannot charge me a surrender or surges fee if thus is the reason for the huge difference because off their mistakes and ********** activities in their company
• I have kept written proof that all of my facts and they are 100% correct and accurate.
In closing I am demanding from Old mutual- all my money back, plus interest accumulated over the period of 23 Months & damages I endured throughout the mentioned period.
