Failed in time of need
I lost my dear husband on the 3rd of January 2023, to a heart attack which still feels so unreal to say out loud and maybe just part of a long nightmare that I can’t escape. It was a big emotional struggle to make funeral arrangements and to be part of a realty that causes huge sorrow and pain to my family. It has been a emotional rollercoaster this view months dealing with his lost and making matters worse the financial strain of being a single parent. As my Husband were responsible for a lot of financial expenses which now became my responsibility and which is the last thing you want to think about as you are still grieving their lost. So we as families depend heavily on the Financial Institutions that deals with our insurances to make life a little bit easier during this process. However we soon realise this easer said as done, which have been my experience with Old Mutual this couple of months. I have been struggling from January 2023 until to date hereof to get my application finalised with Old Mutual. They have been giving me the run-around for almost 5 months now and I am still to receive their feedback herein. Whenever I follow I am being told that the application is with Head Offices and they will revert shortly. I have been requested to provide the same documents over and over by the local branch in Paarl. Do they not save already submitted documents? One of their quotes is We try make the claims process as quick and easy as possible. This has not been my experienced with them, when these products is being sold you are promised that you’re loved-ones would be well looked after and be spared from a difficult admin process. But here I struggle to get my claim approved from them for more than four months. When will my sorrow end and who from Old Mutual would provide me with the compassion/respect to mourn my husband in peace?
