Early Debit
From a frustrated client:
I took out a loan from Old Mutual and my debit orders have been diligent.
During December 2022, Old Mutual decided to debit my loan earlier than my normal debit order date because "people are generally paid earlier." This was done without communication to me. I am one of those people who are not "paid earlier."
Although the debit order went of successfully, I decided to reverse it because:
a) This was not mentioned in the contract; b) They had no courtesy to communicate an early debit date with me.
Old Mutual called me non-stop and even emailed me regarding the "missed" debit order. They even had the audacity to tell me in an email that they had confirmed with my employer to debit on an earlier date - which I blatantly told them was a lie.
And then I was called today again... from Prudence. A consultant that was following a script. She asked me to make a payment today or tomorrow and then I told her that she was asking the wrong question and had to instead ask why the account was arrears.
She then made the assumption that I could not afford to pay the arrears amount and attempted to end the call on me more than once because of my "sensible" questions. I even asked her to put me through to a manager and her response was that she was working from home.
I am tired of poor service and "loan companies" making you feel like you are the bad person.
Where is the communication?
