Disregard for the Elderly

Good day

My dad when he retired he took a investment policy with old mutual of R 91,000 in 2013.

2014 he was then diagnose with dementia, from this investment with old mutual he only gets R671.00 a month and now that he sick and needs more health assistant we can not afford to buy anything with or pay anyone to assist with looking after him.

My mother who is on her later 60's with chronic illnesses is currently looking after my dad and am telling you its so difficult for her and for me assisting her on daily basis.

My dad's condition has became worse, his aggressive, his breaking everything at home ,does not want to wash, we lock him inside the house everyday because we afraid he might get lost and deal with him throwing us with thing, he wets him self and he cant even remember us and at time he just refuse to eat his meal and we fight with him.

we have been advised, by the institution of people with dementia to get him a home and the clinic doctor but the honest truth we cant afford to pay them.

We been to old mutual for assistance so many times and they refused to assist. we asked them to help us by increase my dad monthly payout or by cancelling his investment so that we will be able to place him in a home where there will be professional people to assist him with his condition.

We were asked to bring proof that his really sick by old Mutual , we gave them all the necessary proof that my dad is really sick at some point we even took my dad to the head office so that they can see him face to face , he even struggled to sign the documents when he was asked too ,we collected all the evidence including his brain scans and doctor note.

My dad is actually suffering and his now at the hospital because of his condition and the hospital also advanced us to get him a home and he will be discharge soon because the is nothing a hospital can do, as we speak he is now on his death bed and i as his son has being looking through his policies and guess what all of them has been behind due to the little money Old Mutual has been going him.

Am pleading for help cause my mom condition is not stable we are not trained to do all of this . we really suffering and it breaks our hearts to see him like this.

We plead to Old Mutual to please assist by doing right by my parents.
