I'm writing on behalf of my aunt,She joined old mutual funeral policy in September 2007 and they told her that she can cover any child shes related towho's still schooling so she wrote her sisters child and the child was using the same surname as hers now the child passed on august 2020 the child was using his father's surname so when my aunt went to claim onthe 26 August 2020 they said she will get the money within 4 hours she waited but nothing when she enquire they say she can't get the money because the child was not hers while she was paying for him.Please help her because she don't understand

Thank you for the review.
All claims are paid within the parameters of a contract. The definition of a dependent child is stated within the contract.
If the life covered was not her child then she had to cover the child as her niece/nephew. The premiums would then be different.
We will look into the matter and resolve with your aunt directly.
