Cold,inhumane selfish Old Mutual

I have for decades trusted old mutual with just about everything. I visited Old Mutual on 11/08/2026 to submit two funeral claims for my late mother.The first problem I was told my mother's ID number was incorrect as she appeared to be younger on their system.To correct that they will recalculate and cut the amount payable down.I did not want to fight this at this stage ,as it was not my mistake to have entered a wrong detail on their systems.The second problem was the name and the surname did not match my mother and for that they asked I make an affidavit to confirm it is her,I pushed back strongly as that was a ******** act. After some back and forth they apologised and owned up on the name and surname issue telling me it was a typo. what is interesting is how they single-handedly apportion blame and punishment without any openness.They paid one and withheld the other to date.

They told me within 5 working days the issue will be solved. In all of this they have no regard of the funeral that is taking place 4 days (15/08/2026).

Sometime last week they sent me a message saying they are done.I should expect the money.We are into a 3rd week now still I have not been paid money to conduct a funeral. Now while waiting for the matter to be solved ,they have sent me a new funeral policy explicitly saying I requested for it.I never did that.

Every time there is a communication I have to initiate it ,except for a couple of times they have sent me an SMS. Which was a case yesterday.They sent me a text saying my claim again has been sent for re-evaluation.The local branch has been trying their best to no success up until today morning where they said they were advised I have been paid.Again a lie from Old Mutual.They have been waiting for a proof of payment from morning nothing.I decided to initiate another communication ,where I was told the money is there ,but paid into an internal Old Mutual account ,they will escalate the matter and request the administration department to communicate with me.

What I have always feared with smaller ****ming companies I have found it far worse with Old Mutual.The coldness and the selfishness they have been dishing out to me all along has left me numb and in disbelief.They are all about their profits, no dignity for the dead and honor for their word.
