Cannot trust Old Mutual advisors

I took out a policy last year. I was advised that the product will suit my needs best. In the beginning of the year another Old Mutual Financial Advisor told me that I was given incorrect information and that a more suitable product exist and if I take the new product, I will not have to pay any penalities for terminating the first contract.

Hence, I proceeded. However, up till now I have not manage to get the advisor to come and sort out the termination of the old contract. Thus paying double the price budgetted for. Paying two policies which I did not agree to not can afford.

I have subsequently contacted the call centre who told me that I will be charged a nominal fee, aprox R150 for terminating, but have to terminate with this "missing in action" (b)advisor.

Today I went the Cape Town branch (Adderley Street) and they told me that :

1) If I cancel now the first policy which commenced in Dec 2015, I will loose almost R4000 of the R6000 payments made;

2) If a cancel the second one, i will receive no refunds.

Old Mutual needs to take responsibility for its staff/advisors. The service received since quering this issue has been pathetic.

I as the client have to be "punished" for believing that their staff is competent and truthful.

I will forward this complain to the ombudsman.
