Broken trust

I 2014 i took a loan of R40000 with old mutual then a paid for year and half, which is june 2015. Unfortunately i lost my job and contacted them to let them know about my situation, and so that they tell me what to do next. So the lady told me since my loan had insurance in it i need to submit affidavit and a letter from employer stating that am not longer employed. So since then i never git any communication from Old Mutual, its been +- 9 years now, to my surprise am working now and i app**** for a car finance only to find that i owe R57000 Old Mutual account, i then contacted old mutual and the lady i spoke to was soo rude to me and didn't even give me chance to explain, she just said your account is handed over u must pay nothing else. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED WITH OLD MUTUAL HOW THEY MESSED UP WITH MY PROFILE. Now am punished for loosing my job 😭😭😭😭😭😭
