Breaking all the Rules - leaving the customer in the dark

On 6th February, the Old Mutual Financial planner arrived with a requested a application for a sizable retirement annuity investment. This document states that the transaction date is 27/02/2017,

The adiviser however claimed that he had been notified that the transaction date had to be brought forward, and he drafted a handwritten document moving the transaction date. He also changed his copy of the application. I wasn't at all happy about this - what my attorney calls "highly irregular process" - but agreed PROVISO to receiving a faxed copy of the revised documents.

As of today - nothing received. I phoned the adviser this evening, and reminded him of the arrangement. Quite clearly, he himself doen't know what's what. So - as things stand, I have an application stating transaction date is the 27th - and the adviser *THINKS* the date is either the 24th, 25th, or "could be any date between that and the 27th". ALL I WANT IS A SET OF ACCURATE DOCUMENTS, NO ALTERATIONS, THAT GIVE ME THE CORRECT DATA. I can tell you right now, if Old Mutual tries to process the transaction tomorrow, there will not be sufficient funds - AND THERE IS GOING TO BE HELL TO PAY.

In case you suggest we fix things in the morning - the adviser says he is too busy to get together with me before 5:00PM tomorrow. The entire thing is so casual and slip-shod, I have completely lost confidence in him, and the Old Mutual process.

What makes me especially angry is that last year we had a mad last minute rush to get all the paperwork done before the 28th February, and I reqested that he diarize a date of not later that 20th January this year, to leave adequate time for paperwork & moving funds from call accounts. However, he didn't call me - I had to initiate the process, and he then postponed the appointment - so we are back in a last minute rush.
