Becareful of Old Mutual

People of South Africa stay away from Old Mutual's life covers.

When my uncle took a life cover, he was sent to do medical tests, and after he submitted them, the cover got approved . Now that he passed on, in 20 November 2023, the Old Mutual wants the beneficiary to submit more medical records.

I went to Bertha Gxowa Government Hospital as that is where he was admitted before he passed away and paid R1433 for the medical records.

The medical attendant death certificate required a date, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment that's been filed by different Dr's who attended him, but that is still not enough. I've just received an email requesting reports, investigations, and many more from them. They have been taking me from pilar to post since from the 24 November 2023 until today.

Last week, they sent me an SMS saying that I'm going to forfeit the claim if I don't submit documents by the 24 of Jan, forgetting that I do not have control over the hospital.

If you are thinking of taking a cover with them, please think twice because your beneficiaries will not be able to claim.
