Assist those that are helpless
RA's and committed investments at Old Mutual: With the Covid-19 pandemic, I would like to know if Old Mutual would start allowing their clients to cash out some investments for personal use now, in these current times, to cope with what is happening? I see that the government is allowing medical aid shemes to change their rules to allow members to pay their premiums from their savings.
I think that when people are suffering, and they have cash tied up in savings, it is insincere to not allow them access to their own funds in a time like this.
Standard reply from OM is ""All retirement annuities can only be " cashed in " or made liquid at the earliest age of 55 years OR if you are terminally ill with a life span of not more than 12 months, or if you have suffered an incident causing you permanent disability which leads to your inability to perform duties of generating an income."
I understand that. Those rules were made and app**** in normal times. We are not living in normal times now.
