A company you cannot trust to care for your family when you die

I am the executor of the estates of both of my parents. They had policies with Old Mutual. Despite filling out all of the requisite documentation and providing everything they asked for, I have been waiting and following up for over a year to receive an answer from them on the status of those policies.

To make matters worse, in an attempt to assist, one of my siblings sent a mail, and he received a copy of the policy within a week! So, Old Mutual are in the business of (1) sharing your private financial policies with people who are not legally authorised to receive them, and (2) ignore the pleas of legally authorised persons for them to fulfil their financial obligations to the heirs of their clients.

A word of caution: Do not trust Old Mutual to do right by your loved ones after you pass. Find another solution.
