Oceana sucks - and they are raping our Oceans.

If you are an artisan looking for employment at Oceana Group , you should know the following : The National Maintenance Manager for the group, Mr Jaco Ollewagen, beliefs that Security falls under Maintenance and as such, if you as an artisan are looking to take up employment at the company, just be aware of this : You WILL be called out at all hours of the night and like 2am, 3am , 4am etc by ADT for INTRUDER ALARMS which the company expect you to attend to by going out alone , unarmed, in the middle of the night, look for intruders, and if all ok - reset the alarm - go home and wait for the next call- which 999 times out of a thousand is caused by something stupid like the wind moving a door sligtly or a moth flying in front of a sensor - or just a faulty sensor. You are supposed to then be at work the next day fresh and full of energy as if you didn't have any nigtly escapades and had your full 8 hours of sleep - like the Maintenance Manager did. Other Companies probably have a Security Manager - or they would outsource to ADT or some Security Company , but Oceana is CHEAP and they would rather utilise already overworked Maintenance staff to also double up as security guards at night - and this while the Maintenace Manager can have his nice night of undisturbed sleep like a Fat Cat. So if you are an Electrician , a Fitter and Turner or a Refrigeration Technician with a Trade Test and years of technical experiance , but what you REALLY wanted to become in this life was to rather be a security guard - go ahead and apply at Oceana. They are also known as Commercial Cold Storage or CCS Logistics or Lucky Star ( all under the Oceana umbrella). Just be warned - long term lack of sleep can be seriously bad for your health and mental wellbeing - and the company will take you for granted - not recognising that you are in fact doing two jobs -maintenance and security - but only getting paid for one. The Maintenance Manager on the other hand is getting bonusses based on how much money he is saving the company - and he will do this by working you as the artisan into the ground - like trying to get blood out of a stone. I left the company in 2018 and I am still getting calls from ADT to this day - middle of February 2020 - for alarm activations at Commercial Cold Storage. They haven't even bothered to remove me from the call out list. If you are reading this and you are considering taking up employment at Oceana , don't say that you have not been warned. Good experienced artisans are rare and not easy to find and their s****s are in high demand worldwide, but this company treat their artisans with disrespect. Management is so CHEAP that I wouldn't be surprised if I found out they collect their own ****, dry it, bag it and try to sell it as fertilizer.
