Worst service received Ocean Basket V&A waterfront

On Sa****ay evening 28th May, a group of us decided to have dinner at ocean basket. Firstly we were not greeted at the door. And waited so long for somebody to even acknowledge us.
We eventually got seated and proceeded to order. We ordered sushi as a starter and a platter for mains.
We waited for almost an hour for our food. The waiter kept apologising as they were apparently extremely busy. We found it hard to believe as there were at least 8 empty tables in sight.
The bread that was brought to the table were the end bits and were stale.I asked the waiter if he was seriously going to serve us those end bits. The waiter chuckled and said that he would bring a new basket of bread to the table as somebody went to buy fresh bread. The bread never arrived.

The main course came , platter for 4.
First of all, waiter informed us that he will try to see if one piece of fish can be fried and the rest grilled as we requested. He said the kitchen staff might not communicate properly and mess the order up - how is that the customer's problem? How can we not have a special request on a platter for four if we all don't like fish to be grilled? It is not a special request at all.

We ignored the previous hick up and proceeded to eat. The food was bland. The prawns were crispy and pressed thin. The fish was tiny and dry. I know there is 300g of fish allocated to that platter but why give three pieces when it is a platter for 4? The waiter gave us side plates to eat from.

My drink had been removed from the table and I was not done with it.

Baring in mind we still did not receive sushi and it was our starter.
40mins later one plate of sushi arrives. The second plate arrived 30mins later. The waiter kept coming back to apologise. We eventually called the the manager over , who openly scolds the staff on the floor making us feel very uneasy.

The atmosphere we tense. The manager apologized but did not give any customer satisfaction. He gave us the one sushi plate for free and informed us that they are extremely busy and not short staffed. I once again looked around to see even more tables vacant than earlier. How busy could they have been.

I feel sorry for the staff who work in that branch. It is evident that the managers need to up their game. The disorganized branch is going to run at a loss if it continues to go down the road it is going.

I enjoy going to ocean basket. Will never return to the V&A branch. I left with such a bitter taste in my mouth , R750 wasted. Worst experience ever! I literally never complain , but the service levels in that Branch is appalling and needs to urgently be addressed!
