********** - platter for none

Very sad to say Ocean Basket - Rustenburg won't be seeing us again. We were really looking forward to a nice meal, as platter for one has always been a favorite for me and my husband, yet we walked in, only to have to get our own table and wait a while after having to ask for assistance. I ordered a milkshake, The milkshake had a as I was very strange overly sweet taste but as I was really thirsty and already waited quite a while for it, gulped it down with a glass of water. We were served one and a half (complementary) buns, on which my husband asked why the bread seemed to look like someone had already eaten from it (the 1/2) and why we only got one and a half as we always got a few and it was one of our favorite things, upon which the waiter said, they had a problem with customers wasting the bread and they (the waiters) decide how many each table should get, don't know depending on what... We ordered our mains and were really unhappy with what we got, the food didn't take too long, but the portion sizes are really ridiculous for R150.00 a plate of food. Three small mussels, the prawns were barely noticed on a bed of dry rice the lemon butter had been mixed with something other than cream, which made it overly sour and not as we remember our beloved OB standard. The piece of fish is half a palm size (yes, we have pictures) and filling the plate by spreading the chips flat out really is fooling no one.. We had to ask for our waiter again, (I think they might be short staffed, he was really busy, even when trying to order, got side-tracked with other tables) to pay our bill, upon which he apologized for the inconvenience and poor food quality - apparently its due to renovations that would soon take place. Pick it up a notch guys, we go there for a decent meal, getting our money's worth and a good time, as we had before, dirty tables only being cleaned when clients go sit there is also not acceptable. Not sure if this might have to do with the same management as the ocean basket that closed its door for some of the same reasons.
