Ocean Basket Hillcrest KZN is a disgrace

What a horrific experience at the Hillcrest KZN branch.

I ordered a calamari which arrived over 1 hour after ordering, was dry, over cooked, some pieces burnt and felt and tasted like rubber. It was returned to the waiter who took the food to the manager. Not mentioning the salad which was as dry as sand.

When the bill arrived, the calamari was still being charged for to which the waiter rep**** that the manager refused to remove from the bill. I then approached the manager and expressed my dissatisfaction that I was being charged for an un-edible meal to which he rep**** that he was unable to reverse the charge.

I continued to tell him that in the 2 hours I was there I had noticed that not once did he or the other manager approach any customers to check on their meals( I was actually taking note of this seeing as I had wait so long for my horrid meal). He then aggressively went on the offence and told me that it is none of my concern( I unfortunately do not agree with you sir. As a paying customer I am sure that some of the money I spend in your restaurant goes towards your salary? so YES it does concern me!) I then asked to speak to the owner to which he refused and eventually gave in.

I wonder if your new kitchen crew has no experience or training due to the fact that you were so busy chatting on your phone, to the other manager and putting & taking cash out of your wallets the whole time I was there? Nah that cant be the reason!

I guess in these 'great and easy' economic times you do not need your regular customers to support your restaurant and that you would rather be busy chatting on your phone, to the other manager and putting & taking cash out of your wallets the whole time I was there?

I must admit the waiter - Sbo - was amazing, friendly and professional.

To the owner, I highly recommend that you get rid of the dead wood killing your business and let an awesome & caring guy like Sbo manage your restaurant. At least he cares!
