How a R150 Ocean Basket platter cost me R7000

I ate at Ocean basket (platter for 1) at Cape Town International Airport the day before flying abroad for work. My flight that day was only CT-JHB. I woke up at 24:00 projectile vomiting every 15 minutes (I am not over exaggerating) till 03:00. I realised I need urgent help and went to the nearest hospital (I only have a hospital plan). I was on a drip for a couple of hours and started feeling better, I was prescribed some meds which I went and got. So the hospital bill was R1800 (R900 after hours and R900 for the dr and meds received in hospital). My meds (including antibiotics) at the pharmacy was another R1200. I could not leave on my international flight the next day as I was still to ill. To change the flights (3 of them) cost R3200. I had a rental car which I now had to rent for yet another day too - R500. All adding up to close to R7000 if you include the meal I had at Ocean Basket.

I contact Ocean Basket as was told without a stool sample they are unable to help me and that is it. I explained to them at that stage I already spent R3000 and was not aware this would be required.
