My daughter took me on 1st December to the Ocean Baskat the the Cape Town Waterfront for lunch. We each ordered the fish and chips for R59. After a reasonable wait, our food was served and as we began to eat we both agreed that the fish was aweful, hard and definately previously frozen. We always thought Ocean Basket served fresh fish. We called the manager to the table who handled the matter in an extremely professional way but did admit that this particular menu item is previously frozen. One could taste that it was frozen and it was really, really nasty. He offered to exchange our dishes but it was so disappointing that we said we would pay for the coke and the piece of feta cheese that we ate (which we did) and we left. I will never return to any Ocean Basket again - I can easily make the same frozen fish at home. My daughter was so put off that she says she will never eat fish again. Please - if your fish is frozen, you need to inform your customers who are deluded into thinking that they are being served fresh fish. But awesome Manager and waitress (who will, no doubt, remember this experience).
