Extremely Poor service

I am extremely disappointed with the service recieved at Ocean Basket V&A Waterfront.

We were pointed to a table soon after we arrived - around 17h50.

Fifteen minutes later I had to ask a waiter to attend to us (most of the waiters just ignored me initially). Finally a lady by the name Nadine came to take our orders. So we gave our order for starters (mussels) and asked for glasses and an ice bucket for our wine - this took another 15 mins. So we are thirty minutes in our dining expereince, and still nothing to eat or drink.

Nadine eventually came with glasses (dirty) and dissapeared very quickly. I had to ask another waiter to get clean glasses, and some "complimentary" bread rolls.

One of the managers (cant remember his name) came up to our table to enquire about our main meal orders. We told him that we are still awaiting our starters. We were told that the starters are on its way (40 minutes later), but he would just like to start preparing our mains.

At some point some friends of ours joined us at our table. It took another 15 minutes for them just to get a menu - from which one ordered a draft beer. Unfortunatly nothing was forth forthcomming and we decided to cancel our orders and leave the restuarant.

Just as we were about to leave the front of house manager (by the name of Carl) came to appologise to us - this was about an hour and ten minutes in our bad experience. Our mains arrived (not the starters, the mains) whilst he was there, but at this point in time we were already fed-up with the poor standard of service. I tried to get the branch manager's number from Carl- but he refused to give it to me.

This is not the level of service you'd expect from a restaurant located in one of SA's tourist hot-spots. Its embarrasing to say the least.
