************** & Bad Food

On the 27th January 2018 after a long day or errands , I promised my daughter that i would take her for lunch. Now because Kenilworth Centre Restaurants only cater for Halaal . We do not visit the centre at all, however i was extremely tired and decided instead of driving lets walk since I live in May Road, just around the corner. It was the first time we visited this branch. Firstly we were discriminated against because we were not muslim. At first i thought it was my imagination. It was as clear as daylight, since the manager on duty Samantha went to all the tables except ours and the lady next to our table asking how they are and the food. When our food arrived my daughter's sushi was a joke as it contained only rice and you could hardly see the prawn or salmon. My seafood platter for 1 was disgusting , the mussels and prawns had a funny taste, the stir fried vegetables was only big pieces of cabbage with 5 carrots which myself and daughter counted, Needless to say we gave it back. When i explained to the waitress she was very nice and apologise repeatedly. The manager at this point came to our table asking what the problem was, when i told her about her attitude she argues trying to me and my daughter out to be *****. Insisting that she was at our table, at this point my daughter said no you were not, she offered to replace the prawns and calamari. How she thought that this would change the situation is beyond me. I have been a marketing manager for 11 years and never in a million years would i treat any of my clients like. I had to pay R250 for food which was given back. I then walked out bought my daughter a daughter a doughnut and water @ Dunkin Doughnuts to get rid of the horrible taste in her mouth. Thereafter we went home and I called the branch and spoke to Rashied who had just came on duty. He was very kind and offered to treat us or give us a voucher so that we could go back to the branch or their other branch in Canal Walk. Never judge a book by their cover. Needless to say I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE SINCE I AM NOT MUSLIM I GOT TREATED LIKE PEASANT. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED!!!!Vanessa Coe **********

So after this whole debacle, Ocean basket head office contacted me , I would not mentioned , we actual had a civil conversation, she apologized for me being discriminated against and as a token of goodwill offered that my family enjoy a meal , starter and desert on the house. Her words directly, So i get to the store on 6 February 2018 @ 4h30 only to find 4 complimentary vouchers of R100 each off our meals. Which is clearly not I was told. Needless to say after everything i am so tired of people passing blame, we have decided to give back their vouchers and Name Shame this entire fiasco on as many social media platforms as possible. Only to be told this morning that there was a misunderstanding. After all this I never even got a call from the Kenilworth Branch owner for his staff discriminating against me and my daughter because we were not Muslim.
