Disappointing Experience at Ocean Basket I Port Alfred

We went to Ocean Basket in Port Alfred for lunch on February 18th during our holiday, hoping for some tasty fish and chips. Arriving at 12:15, we promptly ordered our drinks and then waited for about half an hour before placing our meal order. After that, we waited patiently for our meals, eager to enjoy our holiday treat of fish and chips. However, more than an hour passed before our food finally arrived. We ordered two fish dishes with a mix of chips and rice, plus a side of squid heads and tubes, and a third fish dish with rice and salad. Unfortunately, when our food arrived, the first fish dish only had chips, and the salad had no dressing. The other two fish dishes were served with cold rice and barely warm fish. My partner only managed one bite of his fish before we complained. I took it upon myself to grab the two pans of fish and headed towards the kitchen area to avoid embarrassing my partner and his mom. When our dishes came back, they had just been quickly reheated, leaving the fish soggy and unappetizing. I received back the fish that had been partially eaten, which turned out to be my partner's dish. We ate it reluctantly to avoid causing a scene, although I was deeply disappointed by the service and food quality, especially considering my background in hospitality with international qualifications.

To make matters worse, they took away my partner's knife and fork and didn't bring replacements. He had to get up and ask for cutlery himself. The manager didn't handle the situation well either. Instead of fixing things properly, they just reheated our food quickly, which didn't help at all.

This isn't the first time I've had problems with Ocean Basket. A few weeks ago, at a different location, The Vaal Mall, the food was also cold, and the mussels tasted bad.

Overall, I'm really disappointed with Ocean Basket's service and food quality.
