Rude Owner

Absolutely disappointing experience! At first, about a year ago, the owner seemed fine, but out of the blue, she became shockingly rude, cold, and unwelcoming for no apparent reason. I’ve always been polite and friendly, so I have no idea what I could have done wrong. After speaking to a few people, I learned that others have had similar experiences with her behavior, so it’s clearly not just me.

One particularly upsetting incident happened about two months ago. I visited the store with my baby and briefly placed her on the wooden counter (not glass) to take out my wallet. The owner shouted at me for doing so. I apologized and asked her to assist by reaching for an item behind the counter that I wanted to buy. Instead of helping, she started arguing about the shade of brown of the packaging when I tried to describe it. Feeling distressed by her attitude, I apologized again, said I didn’t want to cause trouble, and left the store.

Since then, I avoided the shop altogether. However, today I decided to give it another chance, hoping to put the past behind us and buy a few bottles as gifts. Unfortunately, as soon as I walked in, she told me I was unwelcome and accused me of being rude, completely flipping the situation onto me. She even said I was no longer allowed in the shop!

This store has such a stale and unwelcoming vibe, which is sad given its convenient location near my home. Luckily, there are plenty of alternatives with far friendlier staff. I went to Blue Bottle Liquor instead and was greeted with exceptional service. Spar Tops, Pick n Pay Liquor, and even upcoming options at Blackriver Park are all better choices.

If I treated customers at my workplace like this, I’d be out of a job. Don’t let negativity ruin your day—support businesses that value professionalism and kindness instead.
