Racial profiling at Obs Liquor

My friend and I came to buy drinks here and as we were looking around trying to decide what we wanted, we noticed the owner (a lady) was following us around whichever side of the shop went. We were uncomfortable by that because there is was absolutely no need especially since there is CCTV footage in the whole store. She continues to tail us and when we eventually decided what we wanted to buy, she tells one of her cashiers “I don’t think I want to help them”. We ask her what does she mean, she starts shouting at us, and continues to say “I don’t want to help you! Get out! This is my shop!” We were very confused by this behaviour because all we did was look for a drink we wanted to buy. I did not expect to be racially profiled in a democratic South Africa in 2024 hiding under the guise of being “people of colour”.
