Unathorised credit card charge; con artist

<p>At approximately 11:50 today at Cape Town international airport walking to Gate A 10 I passed the Obey your Body stall and was approached by a salesperson, who identified himself as Israeli, giving me a free sample of hand cream. Since the flight had not yet started boarding I allowed him to apply the cream to my hand.</p> <p>"I will give you more free samples" he said and soon I was sitting on his stall chair getting different products app**** to my face. I liked the tightening product which he was selling for R950 each for face and eyes and said I would buy that. But he kept adding products to my bag. I simply refused to pay for more products and he said he would give them to me for free if I would show them to my friends and help market them.</p> <p>The flight now started boarding and I gave him my credit card to pay for the two products, R1900 in all. I looked at the amount without my glasses on and saw only the 19 and some zeroes, believing it to be R1900. On the plane an sms came from my bank showing the amount to be R19 000.00!!!</p> <p>This guy cheated me!! He presented me with the receipt upside down and asked me to write down my name and number so he could alert me to new products. So I dont even have the receipts.</p> <p>I now see on the Web dozens of complaints about this Israeli guy named Oz. I strongly recommend the Cape Town Airports company looking at the dozens of complaints on the Web about this guy and to revoke his license to have a stall at the airport. He is a con artist and *******. I am prepared to pay for the two products I bought but I want the R17 100 remainder back.</p>

Reviewer Update

I am pleased to say that I was contacted the Monday after the weekend by Obey your Body's South African office and have been refunded the R17 000 overpayment. As the overarching body for distribution of these products to retailers they acted responsibly. They do not have direct control over the actions of their retailers (like many other distributors).

In retrospect, the vendor's name turned out to be Ofri (not Ossie or Ozzie or Oz as I and other people have heard since Ofri is such an unusual name in South Africa. Whereas Obey your Body distributors seem to be a responsible organisation, I warn consumers about the individual vendors. Do not be overwhelmed by their manner and insistence, simply say NO and walk away.
