Unfair Access and Policy Debit order

On the 17 November my vehicle was knocked down by an unkown Vehicle and ran away. I then reported the incident to my insurance and it was towed away. They called me after inspection to my vehicle was done and informed me that the cost to repair my car R51 000.00 and I will have to pay 25% of the damage. I queried the reasons behind and they listed 3 thing which are the main access, the fact that the time of which the incident took place as well as there was no 3rd party involved and I must now pay for that too. The initial total was R12 809.00 and last week the called me again and told me that the dealer told them that there was something that needed to be added and someone from the claims department will call me back. Later on the day I get an sms saying that I must now pay R13 809.00 and no called me. I ended up paying it because now my car needed to be out of the dealer and they were closing for x-mas. As damaged as the car was I feel that I have been taken advantage of. This morning a deduction of my monthly premium also increased without my knowledge.

I just do not understand how everything works with insurance. A lot of inconsistencies. Am I not entitled to get the same invoice that they got from the suplier and after the additional that was included.

Dear Ms Mohapi

This is to confirm our telephonic resolution of your complaint. The excess that was app**** to your claim was in line with the excess structure in your policy terms and conditions, which were fully explained at sign up

The excess was initially advised to you in writing and it was also noted that it was subject to change. Upon repairs to your vehicle, the panel beaters communicated to our assessor that there were extra damages to your vehicle that had to be authorised, and these increased the cost of the claim. These damages were authorised on the basis that we had a duty to indemnify you (put you in the same position you were prior to the accident). This increase in the cost of claim impacted your excess. This was explained to you telephonically by our assessor as well as in writing ensuring that the process was followed fairly.

We trust that the above is in order

Regards
