<p>Can someone please explain to me how a minor accident can cost R20 000 excess fee and because its minor this now needs to come out of our own pockets. MAJOR *******... my dad will surely need to cancel this insurance immediately.</p>

The claim that your dad had on his Oakhurst Insurance Policy fell within the applicable excesses. As such, this means that the repair cost is less than the applicable excesses (i.e. the basic excess and the applicable additional excess) that is payable by him.
