Ridiculous excess!!!!
I'm a client of Oakhurst Insurance Company. I'm only thier client through Suzuki as I I recently had bought a vehicle through them which came with free insurance from Oakhurst for the first 12 months from the date of purchase.
I recently had a claim which I sent through to Oakhurst. The assessor had a look and advised that it would be R16000 to be repaired. My claim has been approved and a claims consultant called me to advise me of this. She then went further to tell me about the first amount payable of 10% or a minimum of R6000 of the claim whichever is greater. I am okay with this. What I'm not happy about is the "additional" excess of R8000 which basically makes it impossible for one to claim through them as it states that they will add that R80000 excess should you claim within the first 12 months of having insurance with them.
May I remind you that I have "free" insurance with Oakhurst for the first 12 months so how can I not claim within the first 12 months of having it for free when a claim occurs? I feel like they are looking for reasons not to pay out claims whereas they have already received an upfront yearly premium from Suzuki to cover me in an event of a claim. If this insurance didn't come out with the deal I wouldn't be insured with them even. The only reason I am with them is because the insurance is "free" and also having the peace of mind that I will be covered in an event of a claim. Never have I imagined that I'd be required to pay a lumpsum of a total of R14000 excess for a claim that is only R16000!!!!! That's ridiculous if you ask me and is cheating the clients! Basically Oakhurst will only pay a mere R2000???? No this isn't right and I'm definitely NOT happy with this.
