Refusal to process claim
Oakhurst insurance fabricated a finding stating that they declined my claim because i am not the \regular driver\" of the car yet the car is registered to park at my apartment on their system. They also claim that i misrepresented the driver when my father took up the insurance yet i was involved during that stage and they are not substantiating their claim. INITIALLY THEY LOOKED ME UP ON TRACKER AND TRIED MAKING UP A STORY THAT MY CAR WAS NOT WHERE I SAID IT WAS DURING TIME OF ACCIDENT AND THEIR CLAIM DID NOT HOLD. The Insurer is trying to keep money in their pocket and not fulfil their side of the agreement. WHEN THEY ADVERTISE FOR YOU TO TAKE UP INSURANCE THEY ARE KIND AND UNDERSTANDING YET WHEN ITS TIME FOR A CLAIM THE ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I am going to have to take this up through appropriate legal channels but i am highly disappointed. DO NOT FALL FOR CHEAP ADVERTISING TRICKS FROM INSURERS WHO WILL NOT BE OF ASSISTANCE WHEN YOU NEED THEM. "
After reviewing your claim we confirm that we support the insurer's decision to decline this claim.
This is based on the fact that during the point of sale and also during quote stage the insurer was advised that Mr EO Manama would be the regular driver of the insured vehicle. However, it came to light during the verification of the claim that you were in actual fact the regular driver of the insured vehicle for the past two years. This misrepresentation resulted in the insurer suffering premium prejudice and as such the insurer was correct in declining this claim.
This particular policy is a nominated driver only policy, meaning that any person who drives the vehicle must be duly nominated as a driver on the policy and be in possession of a valid South African driver's license. According to our records only Mr EO Manama is noted as the driver on this policy. This means that no other driver will be covered in the event of a loss/claim.
Kind regards
